Is October Really the Most Spiritual Month of the Year?

Traditionally speaking October is a powerful spiritual month. Now is the time to tap into your spiritual inner self.

October is known for its haunted feel. Every day the air feels more and more alive with energy. Often we sense a presence just behind us. It is not your imagination. Spirit activity is more prevalent now than any other time of the year.

This dimension that we live in and the spirit world meets in October. This is the time that the veil that separates us thins

This marks the time to honor the worlds of the seen and unseen – our everyday world, and the worlds of imagination, mystery, and spirit.

Interestingly the thin veil period tends to last only seasonally, generally spanning from around October 8th to November 11th of each year.

Honoring the Deceased

This is also a time for honoring your loved ones, that includes your precious pets, who have passed.  I recommend you light a candle and recall in your heart the cherished memories of loved ones who are no longer in the physical world.

You can always make a special spot, similar to an altar, for your deceased loved ones and put some candles, flowers, pictures, and incense.  Every day light a candle and the incense and just talk to them.  They like to hear from you and know that you are remembering them.  In many cultures they make sure that they take care of the graves of their departed loved ones and pay homage to them on a regular basis.

You’ll feel their presence when you do these sorts of things.

It is a good time to gather some colorful autumn leaves to place in a bowl on your kitchen counter, to acknowledge what you would like to shed in your life and what you would like to seed deep within you for rebirth and renewal.

Whatever you do make time to connect to the divine spirits this month. The blessings can be enormous.

Though there are other times and periods when the veil can be thin, Halloween, in particular, is when we as intuitives have to be careful.

Often people are celebrating all types of ghosts or spirits, without any discretion, which can draw in all types of energy.  The energy may not be good.  People tend to think of Halloween as nothing more than a joke and they don’t understand that it is the time that spirits are extremely active.

So, pay attention to what you're inviting in.

If you're playing up the spooky or horror factor in your celebrations, it’s possible that these are the very Spirits you are inviting in.

Alternatively, if you are playing up the invitation for playful, light-hearted Spirits, it is more likely these are the Spirits who are being welcomed in.  This is what you want to bring in.

For other Spirit related Holidays worldwide, there are precautions taken that assure that only the most positive and loving spirits are those that come forward during this thin veil time.

Here's how to make the most out of Halloween:

  • Avoid crowds such as Halloween parties or outside gatherings.
  • Lay low if the energy bothers you during this time.
  • Increase your grounding and clearing meditations to help with anxiety.
  • Avoid places where low energy type spirits may hang out.
  • Do a historical themed ghost tour, rather than a horror themed one.

The good thing to know is the thin veil period tends to last only seasonally, generally spanning from around October 8th to November 11th of each year.

Samhain (Halloween/Celtic New Year) is my most favorite holiday of all year. Also Day of the Dead (Dios del el Muertos). I am a Native American Witch from the Ojibwe/Mohican Tribal Nations.
