This month we will see TWO supermoons, which means that the second full Moon of the month is both a Blue Moon and the closest full Moon of the year! Supermoons are commonly defined as full Moons that occur while the Moon is at its nearest point to Earth. (Because its orbit is not a perfect circle, the Moon’s distance from Earth changes throughout the month.) Supermoons are ever-so-slightly closer to Earth than the average full Moon, which technically makes them extra large and bright from Earth’s perspective.

The Full Blue Moon will be on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at 9:35 PM EDT or August 31, 2023 at 1:35 AM UTC and will be the full moon in Pisces.. This supermoon will be the biggest we see all year! The August Full Moon is named after the Native Americans who called it the Full Sturgeon Moon.  Get ready to experience the mesmerizing Full Sturgeon Moon this month! The moon will be at its brightest and fullest on the night of (insert date), so make sure to mark your calendars and invite your friends and family to join in on this celestial celebration.

Witnessing the Full Sturgeon Moon is truly a magical experience that you won't want to miss. Take a moment to step outside and marvel at the beauty of the moon as it shines its light upon the world.

The August Moon is also known as the Barley Moon – or the Grain Moon – since at the height of the harvest, farmers could work long days into the night by the light of the moon. Other common Native American names for this moon are the Full Red and Full Green Corn moons. Since the moon takes on a reddish hue in the heat of the summer, many people celebrate the beginning of the corn harvest.

For the past century, consciousness as a collective has been on the rise. Each one of us is beginning the quest as a collective to learn how to integrate mindfulness into such a busy world. We keep seeking and peeling away the layers to find the clearest version of the divine in a modern world.

We are full of energy and know we are ready to make a step further. Using the energy of the Sturgeon Moon we can connect better with each other and look for people who share the same interests as us!

Great waves of life are flowing all around us at this time.  August is a powerful month of releasing and reevaluating your life.  It’s time to let go of anything that is holding you back because you want to be open and ready for the new energies that are coming in at this point in the year.

When you clear out the old you are signaling The Universe that you are ready to embrace all that is vibrant and new.

Start With:

  • Cleansing Your Spirit
  • Clean out closets and drawers
  • Clean off the clutter around your sleeping area
  • Clean out old papers and receipts
  • Cleanse and charge your crystals and jewelry

I recommend that you put your crystals in salt for three days prior to the full Moon.  Salt will remove any energies that have collected on your crystals.  You can use sea salt or just regular salt.  On the day of the Full Moon rinse them off and put them in a container outside or in a window that receives moonlight.  The moonlight will charge your crystals and give them the energy/vibration to start working with you in a more powerful way

This moon is also known as the Full Red moon because of the heat that makes the moon appear red and hazy. In European nations, it was named Green Corn Moon after the corns that have green leaves and grains at its highest peaks.

This Moon is associated with the element of Fire and Intense New Energy.

  • Iron and garnet are the mineral totems for this moon.
  • Raspberry is the plant totem.
  • The sturgeon is the animal totem.
  • The color is red.
  • The Thunderbird clan influences the position.

Iron teaches people in this position about their strength and garnet shows them their heart is the source of that strength. From the raspberry, they learn about their sweetness and the thorns they project to protect this part of themselves from other people. The sturgeon shows them their depth and their need to teach.

Use the Moon’s fiery energy for your spiritual work, using associated fiery colors like gold, yellow, and orange; and gemstones such as Tigers Eye or Carnelian.

I feel that all full moons are a special time for us to connect to the Divine as well as the moon. Do something special in honor of this full moon.

The theme of the Grain Moon is one of gratitude and giving back. A good way would be to bake bread from scratch infusing your energy and intent, and to create three loaves from it. One would be given back to the earth and the animals (thanking the Earth), another donated to a shelter or foodbank (that you may always have enough to share), and a tiny one symbolically placed and left in your freezer (that you may always have enough to spare).

The Full Moon is the time of greatest power and the perfect night for spiritual work, giving thanks, and rituals as it’s a night where energy is in abundance.  The Full Moon is a perfect time to receive an in depth spiritual reading. I offer a special life path reading that is unlike any reading you have experienced before.

Full Moon Blessings,
Cherokee Billie
